Free Live Canadian Market Data with Strong Charting Cabability?

Main Post:

So for the US market there are a number of platforms that offer free market data and the ability to chart complicated analytics. Something like Yahoo Finance, which does exactly this for American markets, but not for Canadian markets.

I can't seem to find this for Canadian markets...I've been through all the "brokers" on this sub and of course i've googled it...

I know BNN offers free live data...BUT no charting capability.

In short: are there any platforms that offer FREE live Canadian market data AND the ability to chart diverse analytics?

Top Comment: ive never seen a free one but tradingview.com is really good

Why is the market for Deep Sea Bag still strong when we have Shrouded Cloth Bag for cheaper?

Main Post:

I don't understand this - see title.

Both are 30 slot bags, on my server the Shrouded Cloth Bag (current expansion) is 150-180g, and the Deep Sea Bag from previous expansion is 200-300g. Price varies more, but consistently higher than Shrouded Cloth Bag...

How is this possible? If people search on the AH for bags, and then sort by amount of slots, why would you buy the expensive over the cheap one... ?

Top Comment: They're exactly the same price on my server, give or take a few gold, but to be honest with you, I have no clue other than it being something familiar for you go-to alt bag to search for the last few years. I asked myself the same question a couple days ago.

Opinions about Efficient Market Hypothesis?

Main Post:

What do you guys think about the EMH? The theory that basically says that changes in stock prices are unpredictable, given that current prices already reflect all available information about companies and their contexts, and that it's highly improbable to achieve over-average returns on an individual stock.

Is it right? Is really impossible for an individual investor to beat the market in a consistent way?

Top Comment: As stated in the theory (on wiki here ), the key element that differs EMH and beating the market are related to risk-adjustment model. To 'beat the market', you must basically get a higher return for a given risk level against the hypothetical 'market' portfolio. One issue that arises here is the definition of market and market portfolio. The 'market', which we colloquially talk is the stock market. Stocks are not the only assets in the world. Furthermore, there are many assets that either 99% of people do not have access to, or no one has access to. This includes a huge amount of international assets, especially global real estate. Furthermore, human capital is an asset that is not-traded (I can't sell shares in myself). Theoretically, if you are able to diversify your portfolio with these non-accessible assets that have different risk profiles from typically traded assets, you could 'beat the market'.

Why Canada’s housing market is stronger than it looks — and a recovery is not far off

Main Post: Why Canada’s housing market is stronger than it looks — and a recovery is not far off

But... but.. lower property costs is the recovery that half the country has been waiting 20 years for.

Prices increasing to where they have been the last 3 or 4 years is not a recovery, it's the perpetuation of a broken property market.
